Hydrostatic Pressure Testing & Hydrotesting for Oilfield Equipment

Hydrostatic testing and hydrotesting are the same thing – a hydrotest fills equipment with water, pressures it above its working pressure, and holds it to confirm the assembly will not leak or fail in service. Water is used rather than gas because it barely compresses, which means a failure releases very little stored energy — the reason hydrostatic testing is the accepted method for verifying pressure-containing equipment before it goes to work.

 

H&N performs hydrostatic pressure testing in the field using a Gardner Denver T-300, with testing capability up to 15,000 PSI. Tests are run on drilling and completion equipment at wellsites, yards, and facilities across Wyoming.

We do not test compressed gas cylinders, SCBA or scuba bottles, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, or residential plumbing. A DOT-certified cylinder retester is the right call for those.
